On Sunday, LGBT folk — though primarily gay men in the leather community — will take over the two blocks of Folsom Street on either side of Dore Street, as well as the alley itself, for an afternoon of drinking, dancing, and open-air sexual deviance. Folsom Street Events bills the fair as "Folsom Street Fair's dirty little brother," and indeed in recent years it has tended to be a bit more sexually explicit and less tourist-friendly than the much larger Folsom Street Fair in September. Drawing about 15, people — compared to the , or more who attend Folsom — Dore Alley tends to feel like more of a community affair, and a mostly gay-male block party for both fetishists and local gawkers alike. But the two fairs that occur eight weeks apart used to be two unaffiliated events, though Up Your Alley has always been the smaller and arguably dirtier of the two.
SF parents beware: Folsom Street Fair is this weekend
Folsom Street Fair, San Francisco, September 30, Part 1
The city is by far the most creative city in the country when it comes to cruising and alternative fetish communities. Because so much cruising happens elsewhere, gay saunas in San Francisco are few and far between, though a handful of sex clubs and devious bars offer the same end result, without the steam. Bars like The Eagle and Powerhouse provide sexualized environments and dark spaces that are ripe for cruising. Saunas and sex clubs. Inside a city of cruising possibilities Eros is the lone bathhouse. The venue does not have private rooms or hot tubs but does offer non-sexual massages. Like all bathhouses, Eros is busiest when the bars close and the workday is over.
Behind The Harness: The Extraordinary History Of The Folsom Street Fair
No one is to watch. True it is "public" bit in a specific place. If one is offended just go a few blocks away to another neighbourhood.
Enjoy a day outside at one of these street fairs in San Francisco. Many of them offer special activities and entertainment based on the theme or district where the event is located. A few of these also include a colorful parade. My list starts with one of my favorites, Carnaval.
